Aswan Film Festival Unveils 10th Edition Poster

The management of the Aswan International Women's Film Festival has unveiled the poster for the 10th edition, to be held from April 20 to 25. The festival is dedicated to Egyptian cinema pioneer Aziza Amir on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of her birth. According to a statement, the poster for the 10th edition was designed by artist Hisham Ali, a specialist in visual arts. The poster features a visual style closer to realism, a hallmark of Hisham Ali's designs. It depicts a woman wearing a dress sculpted from white space, moving north, draped in a shawl of river water. A boat cuts through the vertical axis of the canvas, dominating the southern part, while several Nile boats with their distinctive sails indicate to the viewer that the scene is set in southern Egypt, specifically in the city of Aswan. The statement explains that the designer aims to tell a part of the Nile's story through the poster, featuring a woman who lived on its banks, looking towards the future. In her hand, she holds the festival's emblem, which represents the statue of Isis, alongside the name of the pioneer Aziza Amir. If Isis was the first famous woman in Egyptian history, then Aziza Amir was the first woman in Egyptian, Arab, and African cinema and one of the pioneers of world cinema.
