Cairo Factory Fire Kills 9

A massive fire broke out inside a clothing factory and warehouse in a 12-story building in the Zaitoun district in the center of the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The fire killed 9 people and injured 9 others, including 5 in critical condition. The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon, and firefighting operations continued until Wednesday morning, with rescue crews continuing to cool the building during the day to prevent the fire from reigniting. Police arrested three brothers, the owners of the factory, after investigations revealed that the facility was operating without a legal license and lacked necessary safety measures. The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation and ordered forensic reports to determine the causes of death, in addition to forming an urgent engineering committee to inspect the damaged building and assess its suitability for habitation. Cairo's Civil Protection forces managed to bring the fire under control after hours of effort, with the participation of 6 fire engines and 10 ambulances.
