Egypt Hosts Conference to Aid Gaza Recovery

Egypt, in partnership with the UN, international allies, and financial organizations, has hosted a conference aimed at expediting recovery efforts in Gaza. The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the fourth international alliance gathering for the implementation of the two-state solution in Cairo, focused on launching early recovery and reconstruction projects in Gaza.

During the meeting, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, emphasized the crucial importance of commencing Gaza's recovery and reconstruction initiatives promptly. He presented Egypt's comprehensive timeline for project implementation and outlined the various phases of the Gaza recovery plan. Abdelatty also assessed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, as evaluated by Sigrid Kaag, the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, along with her recent international engagements.

Reaffirming Egypt's commitment to ensuring secure and continuous access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, Abdelatty oversaw the entry of a total of 290 humanitarian aid and relief trucks into the Gaza Strip on Monday. Notably, among these vehicles were 23 trucks transporting fuel and gas. An official source at the Rafah border crossing in North Sinai Governorate, Egypt, disclosed that after undergoing inspections at the Kerem Shalom and Al-Auja border crossings in the southeast region of the Strip, the aid trucks were granted access to Gaza.

In anticipation of the forthcoming Gaza reconstruction conference, Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in preparations with UN Representative Sigrid Kaag. Their discussions primarily revolved around strategizing and organizing efforts to rebuild Gaza.
