The man was sentenced for fraud in connection with football player Mohamed Mahdi Afsha, a player of the "Al-Ahli" club, in a case related to the seizure of 13 million Egyptian pounds under the pretext of purchasing a car from abroad.

The court in New Cairo sentenced the businessman to three years in prison.

"This is a great decision. They have indeed proven to be professionals. God helped me in this, and I am glad that justice has been restored," said Mahdi Afsha commenting after the verdict was delivered.

Defense attorneys argued that the accused had used documents to formalize the purchase of a car that had been put up for auction in Turkey, even though it had no connection to this matter.
