Egyptian Education Minister faces trial for failing to implement court ruling

Egyptian media reported on Wednesday that Egyptian Education Minister Muhammad Abdel Latif has been referred to criminal court in Cairo on charges of deliberately failing to implement a final court ruling. According to the "Cairo 24" website, the Court of Appeal set the first hearing for May 13 to try the education minister. The plaintiffs are demanding his arrest, removal from office, and payment of one million Egyptian pounds in compensation. The case stems from a lawsuit filed by lawyer Amr Abdel Salam on behalf of school owners in Minya province. The minister is accused of failing to implement a final and enforceable court ruling from the Minya Court in civil case No. 77/2013, which ordered his eviction from the leased school and its return to the plaintiffs. This ruling was upheld by the Beni Suef Court of Appeal.
