Egyptian media reports have stated that Al Ahly is close to contracting an Ivorian striker to strengthen its squad during the upcoming winter transfer window. According to the FilGoal website, Al Ahly has reached a crucial stage in negotiations to sign Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabate. The Cairo giant is looking to sign a center-forward with high attacking qualities in the 'winter transfer window' to compensate for the departure of their Palestinian striker Wassim Abu Ali. The same source added that talks with the Swedish club Jönköpings Södra have reached an advanced stage to sign Ivorian Ibrahim Diabate in January. Sports presenter Ahmed Shobier said on his radio program: 'Al Ahly is putting the final touches on the transfer of Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabate, a player for Jönköpings Södra'. He added: 'Al Ahly will pay $1.2 million instead of $1.5 million to his Swedish club, and the player will sign a 4-year contract and receive $200,000 upon signing'. He concluded: 'The player will receive $900,000 in his first season, then $1 million in his second, and $1.1 million in his third and fourth seasons'.
