Recently, active users of social networks in Egypt began discussing photographs of a 14-year-old boy, who was depicted with serious facial injuries after being bullied by a classmate in one of the schools of the Safaga region by the Red Sea. The aggressor used a glass shard that caused deep cuts on the boy's face, neck, and hand, requiring 27 stitches, as reported by the Egyptian newspaper "Al-Dastour".
According to human rights organizations, the incident occurred at the "Zahor" secondary school in Safaga, where a fight broke out among middle school students, resulting in one of them sustaining deep cuts on the face and hand. The injured boy was quickly taken to the hospital, where it was determined that he needed 23 stitches on his face and neck, as well as 4 stitches on his hand.
The father of the injured boy stated to the police that his son became a victim of bullying from the moment they transferred to the new school by the Red Sea after they had been living in Menoufia. The father noted that classmates considered his son's beauty and green eyes unusual for a boy of his age and constantly teased him.
According to the father, his son started avoiding problems, but the situation escalated when he requested that a classmate sit further away from him due to his unpleasantness to the smoke. Refusing him, the classmate began bullying him, which led to the assault on the injured boy with the glass shard.
The father emphasized that the doctor warned him that the wounds on his son's neck were close to being lethal, while the wounds on the face would take a long time to heal and may leave permanent scars.
He expressed shock at the fact that his beautiful son had been excluded from the bullying and the reliance on the classmate.
