Global Food Prices Rise

The FAO reported that global food prices have seen a significant increase, impacting the economies of countries and raising concerns about food security.

Global Food Prices Rise

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations stated on Friday that global prices for food products have reached their highest level in the last 10 years.

This price increase, as noted by the organization, is driven by rising costs of raw materials, as well as certain disruptions in supply chains caused by the pandemic.

"As of September, the global price index for food products rose by 2.9% compared to the previous month, reaching a peak not seen since March 2011," - reported FAO.

Due to rising prices for food products, many countries around the world have faced increased food insecurity and reduced access for poor segments of the population.

The consequences of rising food prices pose significant threats to food security for governments, as some countries may not be able to provide their citizens with a sufficient quantity of food products at affordable prices.

The organization calls on governments to adopt measures to mitigate the impact of rising food prices to prevent serious consequences for the population, especially for the most vulnerable groups.
