The Director of the International Currency Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, announced on Thursday her planned visit to Egypt over the course of ten days. Georgieva expressed hope that this visit would allow her to familiarize herself with the current economic situation in the country and conduct consultations with Egyptian authorities.

In addition to Egypt, the Director of the IMF also plans to visit other countries in the Middle East and North Africa as part of her tour. Georgieva expressed confidence that these meetings would help strengthen cooperation in the region with the IMF and discuss the prospects for sustainable growth in the context of post-pandemic recovery.

During her speech, Georgieva emphasized the importance of accelerating vaccination to overcome the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and restore the global economy. She also noted the necessity of reforming tax systems and the digitalization of the economy to achieve sustainable development.
