In an event where pride and sorrow were intertwined, a young Egyptian man named Hassan Ahmed Al-Jazar sacrificed his life to save 13 girls from certain death. The father of the deceased revealed the details of the story, which began when his son witnessed a tire explosion in a minibus transporting university students, causing it to capsize in the water. The father confirmed that his son immediately rushed into the river and, despite not being able to swim, managed to break the back door of the minibus and save the girls one by one until their number reached 13. He pointed out that after his son had exhausted all his physical and mental efforts, he lost his strength and drowned, writing with his own hand the "heroic" ending to his story. The incident took place in the Sinai Peninsula, where Hassan had come fleeing from hardship and seeking to provide a decent life for his small family. The young man, who was from the village of Manal Dweib in the Ashmoun Center of Egypt's Monufia Governorate, left behind three young daughters without a provider. Hassan's father, with tears of pride and sorrow, said: "My son died a hero, and I am proud of him," confirming that his son sacrificed his life without hesitation to save innocent souls, even though he did not know how to swim. He added that the tragedy occurred just two days before his son's birthday, explaining that he had prepared a "cake" for the celebration and was on his way to him when the news of his death reached him, shocking the family and bringing it to its knees. The father also added that the last words Hassan said before his departure were: "I want to see my mother," and these words only deepened the wound and left an unbearable pain in the hearts of his loved ones. The father called on the relevant authorities to honor his heroic son and provide a pension or a stable source of income for his family, emphasizing that "the least duty we owe him is to take care of his daughters who lost their father in an incident that touched the hearts of millions." Users of social media also called for Hassan to be awarded a medal of appreciation and considered a national martyr in appreciation of his sacrifice, which saved the lives of dozens of families from a major tragedy.
