A five‑story residential building in Giza province, south of Cairo, collapsed on December 26, killing eight people, according to the Argentine news agency. The collapse forced emergency teams to perform manual rubble removal because of narrow streets and unstable terrain, delaying rescue efforts. Several adjacent buildings suffered structural damage and were evacuated to prevent further collapses. A technical investigation is underway to determine if unauthorized modifications or construction violations contributed to the disaster. The Giza provincial government has begun inspections to establish legal responsibility of property owners.
