Former Egyptian Assistant Minister of the Interior, Major General Samir al-Masri, recommended that every Egyptian family place a sticker on the front camera of their phone. He explained that suspicious links allow hackers to activate cameras and record what happens inside homes without the owners' knowledge. Al-Masri rhetorically asked, "Why do we take our phones into bedrooms and bathrooms? Respect the privacy of your homes, as the phone can turn into a spy that films the most intimate details of your life." The former security official described the mobile phone as a "peeping Tom" and a "ticking bomb" that everyone carries. In an interview with the "Treasure" program on the "Al Hadath Al Youm" channel, al-Masri warned against complete surrender to smartphones. He pointed out that people believe they own the world through this device, while in reality, the world owns them. He warned that "phones transmit all the details of your private life." Al-Masri called for treating mobile phone addiction with the same mechanisms as drug addiction, revealing that some countries, like the United States, have already begun to build specialized hospitals to treat this addiction. He commented, "Try taking a phone away from a five-year-old for an hour, and you will discover the magnitude of the disaster we are living in." He also provided a security and social prescription to control this danger, which included setting specific times for phone use, establishing designated hours for children's usage, and the necessity of parental supervision and monitoring of what is posted on children's pages and the websites they visit. Furthermore, it is essential to activate technical control via passwords and to have full awareness of how to charge the phone away from the head during sleep and to cover the cameras.
