11 doctors and pharmacists from a health unit in the western governorate in Egypt were referred for investigation due to their manipulation in the attendance and absenteeism records by using counterfeit silicone fingers. This was discovered during an inspection tour conducted by a delegation from the Ministry of Health and the Health Directorate in the governorate to monitor the work in health units, where discrepancies were found in the attendance records of employees and doctors.
In one of the health units, specifically in the village of El-Mansheya El-Kobri, the delegation was inspecting the unit to ensure the presence of doctors and staff, and they found a box containing counterfeit silicone fingerprints for the hands. Based on this discovery, the deputy minister of health referred the implicated individuals for investigation.
The deputy minister of health confirmed that some employees from the health unit used substitutes for the standard attendance signatures using silicone materials for several days. He indicated that a committee will be formed to inspect attendance devices in the unit and all other health units to prevent such practices.
