Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League, emphasized that the enforced displacement represents a serious threat to the Palestinian issue. Speaking at a conference on the current situation in Palestine, he expressed concern due to the rising number of people subjected to deportation and losing their homes. During his remarks on this acute problem, exacerbated by aggression and territorial occupation, he underscored the necessity of international cooperation to prevent further deterioration of the situation. Aboul Gheit also noted that more than 500 Palestinian families have been subjected to violent eviction as a result of further expansion of settlements in the occupied territories. "Such harsh practices create new factors that complicate the possibility of achieving just and long-term peaceful settlements," he emphasized. The Arab League called on the entire international community for collective action to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and to prevent further violations of international law.
