Egypt Warns Citizens on Hajj Violations

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has warned citizens about complying with Saudi regulations for Hajj, while intensifying campaigns against illegal operators at home. Violators could face serious penalties.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt announced its intention to appeal to the corresponding court with a request for the confiscation of any foreign transport means that have proven their involvement in the transport of holders of visas for visiting sacred sites during the given period. Inside the country, campaigns continue to identify violators.

In this regard, Egyptian authorities are actively conducting operations against illegal companies and intermediaries, involving those wishing to perform Hajj without official permission. The Ministry of Interior of Egypt announced the successful detention of more than three thousand fake companies, intermediaries, and scammers over the past period, confirming the continuation of campaigns to prosecute thousands of other violators for protecting citizens and ensuring compliance with the law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt issued an official warning addressed to Egyptian citizens wishing to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, whether they are residing in Saudi Arabia or arriving from Egypt, about the obligatory compliance with the regulations established by the Saudi authorities regarding the prohibition of attempting to perform Hajj without official permission.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed that Saudi authorities will adopt strict measures against violators, including the deportation of illegal pilgrims and a ban on entry to the territory of the country for ten years. They also called on all visitors and residents of the Egyptian community in Saudi Arabia to comply with the laws, avoiding violations and legal liability.

The Ministry indicated that the mentioned measures will be applied not only to those attempting to perform Hajj without permission but also to those aiding violators, hiding them or providing assistance, including the provision of housing for holders of visas for visitation in specific residential places inside Mecca and sacred places during the period from the first day of Zul-Hijjah to the end of the thirteenth day of Zul-Hijjah. Violators will face fines dependent on the number of apprehended or hidden persons.
