Egypt's Mufti bans AI use for Quran interpretation

Egypt's Grand Mufti, Dr. Nazir Ayad, stated that complete reliance on artificial intelligence applications for interpreting the Quran is prohibited from a Sharia perspective and it is impermissible to take the meanings of the Quran from them independently. He added on the official website of Dar Al-Ifta that this comes to preserve the book of Allah from falling into the realm of conjecture and guesswork, and to safeguard it from being circulated or interpreted without knowledge, or from being attributed meanings not confirmed by specialists, while limiting the interpretation of the Quran to those who possess the tools of interpretation and its criteria approved by recognized scholar-interpreters and jurists. He stressed the need to refer to approved books of Quranic interpretation or to inquire from trustworthy scholars and specialists, as well as specialized religious institutions, through available means, as a means to preserve the book of Allah and to ensure reaching the correct understanding based on knowledge, integrity, and precise insight.
