Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called on Monday to give the ongoing war in the region a chance to stop and to seek peaceful solutions for it. Sisi, during his participation today in the 43rd educational conference organized by the armed forces, as part of Egypt's celebrations of the Martyr and Veteran's Day at the Manara International Conference Center, said: "Our region is going through a critical, fateful moment; the ongoing war will have grave humanitarian, economic, and security repercussions." He added, "While Egypt condemns the aggression against its Arab brethren, it calls for giving the war a chance to stop and for seeking peaceful solutions. 'No settlements without dialogue.. no solutions without negotiation.. no peace without understanding that guarantees security, preserves resources, and protects peoples from the ravages of wars.'" He pointed out that the Palestinian issue is the core of the conflict in the Middle East, and Egypt's stance on it is clear and unambiguous: 'No peace without justice.. no stability without an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem,' announcing his country's absolute rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land, as this is a red line that Egypt will never allow to be crossed. Sisi warned against attempts to ignite strife in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa, describing these as adventures of extreme danger that will have repercussions no one will be able to contain, and no party will be immune from their effects, confirming that Egypt, which always calls for cooperation and integration with sister countries in the Nile Basin, will not allow the region to be dragged into futile conflicts that threaten its present and future. He stated that despite the regional and international circumstances and the magnitude of the challenges, his country's economy is in a safe zone, as testified by the concerned international institutions, expressing his hope that the ongoing war in the region will not lead to economic repercussions affecting Egypt, as happened since October 2023, when the country incurred losses of nearly $10 billion in Suez Canal revenues due to the war in Gaza, in addition to the other direct and indirect effects of this war.
