Egypt's Ministry of Labor has issued mandatory instructions for companies recruiting Egyptian workers abroad, banning Egyptian women from traveling for work in a specific set of professions. According to the ministry, this ministerial decision is part of regulating the labor market and ensuring that job opportunities align with professional standards. The decision bans Egyptian women from working in the following sectors: domestic work, which includes all tasks performed in the employer's home, such as housekeeper, cook, house manager, personal assistant, and private nurse; work in cafes and coffee shops, which includes professions like waiter, bartender, server, and counter staff. According to Russia Today, the ministry clarified that this step was taken based on reports it monitored, emphasizing that the goal is to protect the rights and dignity of Egyptian working women and to regulate the overseas labor market. The ministry stressed that all recruitment companies are obligated to implement the decision, confirming that transactions with violating companies will be stopped or rejected.
