Zamalek's Hopes Diminish in Egyptian Premier League

The football club Zamalek received a blow to their hopes of competing for the championship in the Egyptian Premier League ahead of their upcoming match with their traditional rival - Al Ahly. Zamalek dropped two valuable points in the title race, finishing in a draw 1:1 with Petrojet in the 14th round, while the banking club Al Ahly secured a significant victory 4:1 over Smouha.

The goals were scored in the final minutes of the second half: Mustafa Al Jamali superbly scored after bypassing several Zamalek players. After a maneuver by the attacking player of Petrojet, Mahmoud Sabri, the Zamalek goalkeeper couldn't block the shot.

Petrojet surrendered their advantage, conceding a goal from Nasser Mansi, who became the savior for the whites. This result left Zamalek in third place in the championship table with 27 points, trailing 3 points behind the leaders Piramidz.

The match also marked the first game for the new head coach of Zamalek, Portuguese Jorge Pesero. Petrojet had already collected 18 points and returned to the elite after a long absence in the second division, currently sitting in the seventh place on the table, waiting for the conclusion of the remaining matches of the round.
