Zamalek Wins Over Al Ahly Amid Controversy

Today, the decision of the Supreme Council of the Professional Football Clubs League of Egypt was made in a meeting on the recognition of the victory of "Zamalek" over "Al-Ahli" with a score of 3:0, in accordance with the rules of the Egyptian Premier League due to the crisis arising from the match between the top clubs. The league announced the acceptance of indicated penalties for the first round of the second stage of the season, in accordance with Premier League and violations outlined for the 2024-2025 seasons.

Furthermore, in the league's statement, it was indicated: "Three points were deducted from the club 'Al-Ahli' in addition to points for the match, which was recognized as lost, with full accountability for the collection, loss of revenue from commercial contracts and transactional agreements, as well as other expenses related to participation in matches in view of the refusal to comply with the requirements of the rights holders."

In its statement, published on the official website, "Al-Ahli" announced its intention to appeal to the Egyptian Olympic Committee regarding the Egyptian Football Federation and the League of Professional Clubs. It noted: "The club's board of directors accepted the decision to appeal to the Egyptian Olympic Committee regarding actions contradictory to the rules established by the Egyptian Football Federation and the league of professional clubs concerning the match verification."

The Egyptian Olympic Committee has already responded to "Al-Ahli", stating that they are considering the complaint. "The Egyptian Olympic Committee will review the complaint submitted by 'Al-Ahli' against the Egyptian Football Federation and the league of professional clubs as a corresponding body for examination."

The next round of the Egyptian league is scheduled for April. The league of professional clubs announced that it is awaiting a decision on the complaint submitted by "Al-Ahli" to the Egyptian Olympic Committee, and it intends to follow up on its resolution. The meeting of the upper tier, which was supposed to take place last Tuesday, was canceled after "Al-Ahli" failed to arrive at the stadium, and only "Zamalek" appeared on the field.

The club did not show up at Cairo Stadium two hours before the scheduled start of the game and instead directed itself to its sports complex with trainer instructions and players to conduct the usual training at the same time. Then "Al-Ahli" requested a postponement of the match, threatening to withdraw from the continuation of the tournament.

There has been a conflict between "Al-Ahli", the Egyptian Football Federation, and the league of professional clubs since the championship requested the distribution of foreign refereeing staff for the match between the two largest clubs in Egypt due to criticism of the local referee. In response, the Egyptian Federation began a local refereeing team for the match, despite "Al-Ahli's" request for foreign referees, given the limited time between the announced date of the first round of the second stage of the Premier League and the stated requirements from "Al-Ahli."
