Minister Addresses Rivalry Between Ahly and Zamalek

During a conversation, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Egypt, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, expressed his views on the recent disputes between the clubs Al-Ahly and Zamalek regarding refereeing and postponed matches. He emphasized that the ministry does not interfere in such matters and that each club is responsible for its decisions.

"We have no relation to all these matters," the minister stated, stressing that the management of such disputes lies with the responsibility of the clubs, leagues, and football federation. Sobhi noted that this season, Al-Ahly had no issues regarding refereeing, while Zamalek faced problems with postponed matches last season.

Sobhi clarified that Zamalek bore the consequences of its decision related to the arbitration of last year's postponed match in the context of the association's clubs' resolution, and added that currently, Al-Ahly is obligated to take responsibility for its decision independently. These statements came during a period of tension observed in Egyptian football, especially in the lead-up to the "Superclasico" match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

It seems that the minister aims to position the ministry as a neutral body, detached from conflicts between the clubs.
