The Egyptian Football Association's Competitions Committee announced penalties for the Egyptian Super Cup. The committee decided to punish Al Ahly and Zamalek players, as well as fine both clubs due to incidents that occurred in the semi-final and final of the local Super Cup, held a few days ago in the UAE. Al Ahli won the Egyptian Super Cup for the fifth consecutive time and 16th overall, defeating its local rival Zamalek 2-0 in the final match played last Sunday at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In a statement released today via its Facebook page, the Egyptian Football Association stated that the Competitions Committee decided to «impose a financial fine on Ahmed Mustafa Mohamed Sayed (Zizo) of Al Ahli Club, amounting to 50,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately 1060 dollars), for failing to adhere to the protocol for the award ceremony». This penalty came after television footage showed Zizo ignoring the handshake of Hisham Nasr, the vice-president of Zamalek Club, on the podium during the medal and cup presentation ceremony after the match ended. The committee also decided to «impose a financial fine on Juan Alfinha Bezerra of Zamalek Club, amounting to 50,000 Egyptian pounds, for failing to adhere to the protocol for the award ceremony». This decision was made after television footage showed him ignoring Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy, as well as a group of other officials, while on the podium after receiving his runner-up medal. The statement added that the Competitions Committee decided to «impose a financial fine on Zamalek Club amounting to 100,000 Egyptian pounds for the collective verbal abuse from its fans in the final match against Al Ahli, and to impose another financial fine (on Zamalek) amounting to 100,000 Egyptian pounds for the collective verbal abuse from its fans in the semi-final match against Pyramids». The committee also fined Al Ahli 100,000 Egyptian pounds for the collective verbal abuse from its fans in the final match against Zamalek. Additionally, the Competitions Committee suspended Pyramids' head coach Krunoslav Jurčić for one match and fined him 10,000 Egyptian pounds for protesting during his sending off in the third-place match between Pyramids and Ceramica Cleopatra.
