Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan expressed his hope that captain and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah can lead the Pharaohs to the Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco. Hassan at a press conference in Agadir ahead of tomorrow's match against Benin in the round of 16 answered a question about Salah approaching his record as Egypt's all-time top scorer. "Salah is one of the best players in the world in the last 10 years. He is capable of breaking records, and I hope that in the end he will help the Egyptian national team to win the tournament," the coach said. In the current edition, Salah scored two crucial goals: the winner against Zimbabwe (2-1) in stoppage time in the first round and the winning penalty against South Africa. His tally reached 65 goals, and he is now just three goals away from surpassing Hossam Hassan's record. The Pharaohs' coach confirmed that his team is ready for the match against Benin, which he called the final of the tournament for him, noting: "Our goal now is to reach the quarter-finals. Today at training, we will find out about the condition of all players and their readiness for the match." In turn, Egypt's winger Mahmoud Hassan 'Trezeguet' said: "The Benin national team is strong and deservedly advanced to this stage, the match will be very tough, but we are ready for it." He added: "Our coach Hossam Hassan and the technical staff focus on training on creating chances, and I think we have never created so many opportunities before. We need to concentrate well and not relax in the upcoming matches. But the Egyptian national team is the record holder for the most Africa Cup of Nations titles — we have 7 titles."
