The 10th Aswan International Women's Film Festival honored Polish director and screenwriter Dorota Kobiela-Wehlmann during its opening ceremony, which kicks off on the 20th of this month. Wehlmann is considered one of the foremost contemporary filmmakers who has succeeded in blending fine art with the art of moving image through a visual project based on the technique of oil-painting animation. Through this, she redefined the relationship between the painting and the cinematic shot. In 2017, Wehlmann was nominated for an Academy Award for her film 'Loving Vincent,' which is the first film in cinema history to be entirely executed through hand-painted oil paintings, with the participation of over 100 artists from around the world.
