The leaders of the Arab Parliament and PARLATINO met to discuss cooperation on global challenges, including climate action and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.


Arab Parliament and PARLATINO strengthen interregional cooperation

Within the framework of the Ordinary Session of the Arab Parliament Assembly, a bilateral meeting was held between His Excellency Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, and Deputy Rolando González Patricio, President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO). The meeting aimed to strengthen inter-institutional relations and parliamentary cooperation between the two regions.

During the encounter, the President of PARLATINO highlighted the importance of this dialogue space for advancing joint projects that address global challenges, particularly in areas such as climate action and food loss and waste, where both organizations develop legislative initiatives from their respective bodies.

In turn, the President of the Arab Parliament thanked PARLATINO for its accompaniment and support in seeking a peaceful solution to the serious humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Al Yamahi emphasized the value of exchanging parliamentary experiences on issues of convergence and shared concern on the international legislative agenda.

The delegation accompanying the President of the Arab Parliament included: Kamel Sharwy, Secretary General; Dr. Mudher Abdulrahem, Director of the Presidential Affairs Department; and Dr. Ashraf Abdelaziz, the President's political advisor and Director of the Foreign Relations Department.

Both leaders agreed on the need to move towards a closer interregional relationship, allowing for the enrichment of legislative work, the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy, and the building of common solutions to the challenges facing the world.

This meeting marks a significant step in consolidating a cooperation platform between the Arab Parliament and PARLATINO, reaffirming the commitment of both organizations to sustainable development, food security, and global climate and democratic governance.
