Egypt Announces Green Museum Certification

Amid preparations for major festive celebrations, Egypt has announced that the Grand Egyptian Museum has received the world's EDGE Advanced certification for green buildings for 2024, officially becoming the first green museum in Africa and the Middle East. The Egyptian Council of Ministers stated in a press release that this achievement is part of the state's efforts to promote sustainable development in line with Egypt's Vision 2030, by reducing carbon emissions, rationalizing energy and water consumption, and integrating modern technology into the design and operation of public facilities. It was confirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum being the first green museum in the region reflects Egypt's commitment to building a comprehensive civilizational model that combines the preservation of human heritage with innovation in sustainability, thereby enhancing Egypt's status as a global cultural and tourist destination. The concerned authorities continue to prepare for the museum's official opening next Saturday, where specialized teams are carrying out the final coordination of exhibition halls, developing smart lighting systems and interactive displays, in addition to preparing the external squares overlooking the pyramids to receive visitors and official delegations in a festive atmosphere that reflects Egypt's civilizational face. The Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization. It is located on an area of half a million square meters on the Giza Plateau and houses more than 100,000 artifacts from various eras, including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun.
