In the region of the pyramids of Giza, in Egypt, yesterday (on Tuesday) the International Parachuting Festival 'Jump Like a Pharaoh' commenced. The organizers reported that the festival attracted nearly 200 participating parachutists from 34 countries for the completion of 1000 jumps over the pyramids of Giza. They noted that the number of participants is decreasing every year.
Markus Bartls from Germany, a parachutist, described his first jump over the pyramids as an amazing experience, emphasizing the excitement related to the connection with one of the wonders of the ancient world. He said: 'This is my first jump over the pyramids, without a doubt, it's amazing. This is one of the last wonders that remain in the world, so it is astonishing.'
Brazilian João Pedro Pinatti, also a parachutist, said: 'I feel incredible happiness from being here for jumps with a parachute in this beautiful and stunning place.'
Mahmoud Sharaf, founder of Skydive Egypt and the festival, noted that parachutists from all over the world are drawn to Egypt specifically because of this unique experience. He added: 'Naturally, the pyramids are very strongly attracting tourists, and parachuting over the pyramids provides a completely different level of enjoyment. People see the pyramids from the sky - it’s a completely different experience, and they experience an adrenaline rush that accompanies it. This, of course, is a completely different condition, which is why every year we, thanks to God, see an increase in numbers, as people want to do something similar very strongly.'.
