According to information obtained from various sources, the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund approved a disbursement to Egypt of $1.2 billion following the completion of the fourth review of the country’s economic program. This support from the IMF is referred to as assistance to Egypt in dealing with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing reforms to strengthen the economy.
Specialists noted Egypt's macroeconomic achievements, highlighting a positive trend across a number of indicators. An important part of the program has been strengthening the role of the private sector in the economy and improving the country’s investment climate. Stakeholders also discussed plans for expanding social programs to support vulnerable groups of the population.
"We recognize the efforts of the Egyptian government in reforming the economy and improving the resilience of the national financial system," emphasized the IMF representative. "We are confident that these combined efforts will help Egypt overcome current economic challenges and ensure stable growth in the future."
