Cairo — The Suez Canal Authority announced the normalization of navigation in both directions after maritime rescue teams successfully refloated the oil tanker 'Commander', which ran aground while transiting the waterway as part of the north convoy on Tuesday afternoon. Osama Rabih, head of the authority, confirmed that the incident did not affect navigation, praising the rapid response and efficiency of the rescue teams that handled the situation immediately after being notified of a technical malfunction in the tanker's engines at kilometer 47 of the Suez Canal. Rabih stated that the authority deployed five tugboats for the towing and realignment operations: 'Mohamed Bashir', 'Musaed 4', 'Port Said 3', 'Suez 1', and 'Nabil Al-Halali'.
