The Egyptian Cabinet has refuted rumors about the circulation of counterfeit gold bars in some goldsmith shops across the country. The Cabinet's Media Center stated that the Egyptian Hallmarking and Weights and Measures Authority operates around the clock, adding that it has not detected any cases of counterfeit coins or bars being traded in official gold shops during its recent campaigns. The center explained that the information circulating on social media pertains to individual fraud attempts that occur outside the legal framework, often outside Egypt, and are published online to create sensationalism.
