Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kojak announced during a press conference on Saturday the date for the salary increase for state employees, which was previously approved by the Egyptian Cabinet. Kojak clarified that the salary increase will be paid to state employees in next July, noting that the cost of this increase has exceeded the 100 billion pound barrier, thereby raising wage allocations in the Egyptian general budget to 821 billion pounds. According to the Finance Minister, the planned increase will raise the minimum income for state employees to 8,000 pounds, and also provide a periodic bonus of 12% for those covered by the Civil Service Law and 15% for others. Additionally, a monthly additional incentive of 750 pounds will be given to all employees, at a total cost of 77.5 billion pounds. The Minister also announced that a monthly incentive of 1,000 pounds (additional teaching incentive for teachers) will be granted starting with the new school year, and 2,000 pounds (excellence incentive for distinguished school management), at a total cost of 14 billion pounds. He also mentioned that a monthly increase of 750 pounds will be given to medical sector workers, in addition to raising night and overtime shift rates by 25% from next July, at a total cost of 8.5 billion pounds. Earlier, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli had announced on April 2nd that the government would raise the minimum wage for public sector workers, noting that the wage item in the general budget for the fiscal year 2026/2027 was increased by more than 20%.
