Abnormal weather conditions and the spectacle of yesterday's solar eclipse at the face of Pharaoh Ramesses II in his temple in the historic town of Abu-Simbel in southern Egypt. The event was attended by 26 native groups from different countries to witness this event, but the sun was blocked by clouds, and the phenomenon did not attract thousands of tourists from Egypt and the whole world, as it occurs every year.
The president of the Egyptian Society for Tourist and Archaeological Development, Ayman Abouzeid, stated that they are considering measures to include 22 astronomical phenomena, which occur in ancient Egyptian temples and pyramids, in Egypt's annual tourism program. He added that this so-called "astronomical tourism" in his country has a promising future, and the significant number of tourists visiting the temple of Pharaoh Ramesses II in Abu-Simbel in southern Aswan will start to visit other places where similar astronomical phenomena occur, such as the temple group in Karnak, the Temple of the Mortuary of Hatshepsut in Luxor, the Temple of Dendereh, dedicated to the goddess Hathor in Dendereh, as well as other ancient temples and pyramids of Egypt.
