The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the European Union, Kayya Callas, stated on Friday that the Union has resumed its civilian mission to monitor the border crossing Rafah between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
The accompanying statement was made in the context of efforts to restore the peace process in the Middle East and support for Palestine. As Callas explained, this mission is of great importance for ensuring the safety and freedom of movement of people across the border.
"We hope that this step will contribute to alleviating the humanitarian situation in the Gaza sector and strengthen trust between the conflicting parties," the minister emphasized.
