Egypt Repatriates its Citizens from Libya

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it continues its coordination with the Libyan side to restore hundreds of Egyptians missing in Libya. In an official statement issued on Monday, it indicated that these efforts are carried out in direct cooperation between the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli and the Egyptian Consulate General in Benghazi, in full cooperation with the concerned Libyan authorities, and with the participation of the specialized sectors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which reflects the priority of this file and the Egyptian state's keenness to follow up on the conditions of its citizens abroad without exception. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these efforts resulted in the return of 131 Egyptian citizens from one of the detention centers in Libya on November 27th, following intense and continuous efforts made by the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli in coordination with the concerned Libyan authorities, which enabled their release and facilitated their safe return to their homeland. Additionally, 1132 Egyptian citizens have been returned from Tripoli and the Western region since the beginning of this year, in addition to more than 1500 citizens from Benghazi and the Eastern region, as part of the continuous efforts of the Egyptian state, according to the ministry's statement. The statement clarified that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to hold periodic and intensive meetings with the families of the missing citizens, within the framework of keenness to inform them first-hand of all developments related to the file. Yesterday, Ambassador Haddad Al-Jawhari, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs, met with more than 200 families of the missing citizens, and the efforts made and ongoing contacts with the concerned authorities were reviewed, and their inquiries were answered.
