In a move to ease the cost of living ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has directed the government to launch a new social protection package. It includes direct cash support and an increase in income for state employees, along with the early disbursement of February salaries, aimed at supporting low-income groups. Urgent presidential directives were issued ahead of Ramadan. The directives came during a meeting held by the president on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kajuk, where he stressed the need to implement the package before the start of Ramadan. The measures include direct cash support for eligible families on the occasion of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The early payment of February salaries is also part of the plan.
