The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit stated: "Words are no longer sufficient to describe the current situation in the Arab region." The criticism was made at an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the League held on Tuesday.

Representatives of the League countries discussed the problems of conflict and instability in the region. It was also noted that there is insufficient attention to the Palestinian issue and its implications for ensuring stability in the region.

During the meeting, heads of diplomacy shared views on possible ways out of the complicated situation. One of the participants of the meeting emphasized: "We need to take effective measures to restore peace and stability in the region, otherwise the consequences could be unpredictable."
