Egypt's Foreign Minister warned that the continuation of the military operation threatens to drag the entire region into chaos. This came during a phone call received by Minister Badr Abdelatty from his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, where they discussed the ongoing developments in the region and the implications of the serious military escalation, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Monday. The call addressed the danger of the current turning point in the Middle East, where Minister Abdelatty emphasized the utmost necessity of de-escalation and prioritizing the diplomatic path to prevent the spread of conflict and the catastrophic humanitarian consequences it may entail. The call also discussed the direct repercussions of this escalation on Iraq and the importance of maintaining Iraq's stability, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as Egypt's support for the efforts of the Iraqi government to assert its sovereignty and protect its people's resources. During the call, views and joint coordination were also exchanged between the two countries regarding the outcomes of the upcoming regular meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States, scheduled to be held virtually at the level of foreign ministers on March 29 of the current year.
